Shiptrax is not only a receiver but a complete tracking system that includes software, hardware and an AIS network.
The more competitors the better: after all when we first released RadarBox our competitors had 100% of the market and because of the technology superiority RadarBox is now the market leader.
The same will happen to ShipTrax.

Every AIS receiver with Shipplotter forms also "a complete tracking system that includes software, hardware and an AIS network"

So in that way your absolutely NOT unique.
A child of ten years old can buy an AIS receiver and Shipplotter via internet, that's not rocket science!!

jannuh,

We know you are here only to cause trouble as your last dozen posts suggest but anyway no AIS reciever comes with Shipplotter so its not a complete tracking system with hardware, software etc..

Many of our customers are not tech savy and would like a kit which does everything.

So you have to be tech savvy to buy a piece of hardware (many product comparisions on the internet) and software???

Again, a child of 10 years old can do this!
There's no rocket science attached!!

Please A.N. read your own stuff before posting, that makes you more reliable to your customers!

Just reading the ShipPlotter instructions on how to setup a receiver would be daunting for those that aren't "tech savvy".  Hopefully the ShipTrax receiver will be simple plug-and-play with the ShipTrax software.

Agree Tarbat that you have to read the help files and then there still may rise some questions; you always can ask for help on the SP forum.

For people who don't want to read the help files any piece of software is too complicated.

You also have to read and understand something, not that much, about AIS; if that's too much then sit behind your television and watch reality soaps or something like that!!

We have good news: the software is already being beta tested with good results.
The hardware is finished and beta testing as started.
Server/network software is finished.

We hope so but we can't guarantee it as some factors don't depend on us.

Hi,
I have a quick question if anyone could answer it please,  my range with my radarbox covers a good chunk of the english channel, If I have a vhf antenna I think? for the shiptrax at the same height as my other aerial, will the range be the same? I think the antennas have a max of 50 miles?
Thanks

Range depending on antenna height, using good coax cable and ofcourse the area where you live (hills, high buildings etc.)

30 nm will be possible (more/less see above)
There are more postings about range in this Shiptrax forum.

Johnn, I get around 15NM range with my antenna located in the loft.  Unfortunately I have a big hill to my NE which limits range, but I get good coverage across the Cromarty, Moray, and Dornoch firths.  That's using a Comar receiver, and I'm looking forward to see how range compares with the ShipTrax unit.

You can see my location at http://www.tarbat.gofreeserve.com/shiptrax.htm
