Hello A350:

The little yellow points on the second map are the FIX points . They don´t show on the first one because they are turned off on the preferences.

Thanks

Iceman, would you explain why some aircraft on your screenshot have no reg in the label such as the 2 Globespan and EasySwiss aircraft. These are well known and documented tie ups but not in the Radarbox database ?? Some of the labels appear squashed, so is that why the reg data is not visible ??
Would love to see the system first hand but any info you can give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi b744,

The labels do not contain as much data as the others as the database does not have the aircraft in the database. As you can imagine keeping the database up to date is a large task but with more users we should be able tie up any ones we have missed etc..

Hi b744:
Sorry for the delay. I think that you have already the answer. Yes there are some MS codes that de reg is unknown to the software, but its easy to put them on the database if you find it on the internet. In my opinion the radarbox is fantastic and the software is great, dispite one or two things that must be corrected and improved. The interface is very similar to the other airnav software. Today i´m posting 3 screens. One of the complete screen and two only from the radar part. They are consecutive in time only the map changes.

Hello Iceman,

what Antenna do you use and where is it mounted?
You seem to have a very good range with your equipment.

I ordered my radar box last week and hope to get it the next days.

Best regards
Gerald

Hello Gerald:

I´m using the antenna that came with radarbox, mounted outside my balcony. But there is on trick ... if you put one piece of  metalic narrow wired mesh (28cm x 28cm ) you have almost 15% more range.

One more day... one more "radar" screen shot. Today as been raining all day long so the "range" is not so amazing.
I have my "network" off, as on all others images, so is only the trafic that i catch with my RadarBox.
It´s fantastic and easy system. Thanks Airnav!

Can I just point out generally when it rains the aircraft go above the rain cloud so they are up higher. You should therefore see more aircraft not less.
That is what happens with my receiver

There is some information that in when its raining and especially if your antenna is outside in the elements the reception could be affected (not proved or disproved) Some people display different results as under certain atmospheric conditions radio waves travel further.

Regarding aircraft: RadarBox is his picture is mostly picking up commercial airlines and they won't be to worried about a rain cloud and usually go through it unless its really heavy and turbulent.

Hello piper-pilot:
Atmosferic conditions interferes in radio comunications. If your talk about Low Frequencies you may experiment a slight increase on distance. But if you are talking about Ultra Hi Frequencies is the reverse. The clouds and the rain are harder to penetrate (resistence) and introduces more attenuation and dispersion, as you can confirm with (at least) your satelite reception.
So if you live near an airport and catching low altitude flight (under the clouds) the diference is not significant, even a slight increase may be noticed. But when talking about high flights the attenuation increases.
I am a man devoted, long time ago, to comunications... and i have lot of experience on this matter. And i think, looking to your email adress ;) that also are you.

Sorry for my English.
