My radar box recently suffered a fault which after a few tests i concluded that the saw filters were defunct. I contacted support & got a reply within 24 hours along with a ticket number to send the box to watters & stanton for repair. Received the box back this morning & at the moment all seems ok. Big thanks to airnav & indeed to watters & stanton for what i regard as a very good & quick turnaround. This is what i consider to be good customer service.

Hi Peter, yes, I've also had very quick turn-arounds both times my RB has died.   The first time a rather clumsy and messy repair was done, it died again with 3 weeks, and at my request a new pcb was fitted, which has been running perfectly for just over 7 months.   My major concern is that these RBs are now coming up to 2 years old and the end of the warranty period, if the SAW filter problem occurs again, how much will W&S be charging for the repair - has anyone had to pay, and if so, how much?

Furthermore, those who's RB is in the 1st batch are covered under SAW damage even if out of warranty. The other batches were given extra protection and we believe they should be fine under normal conditions (i.e not a lightning strike etc.)

Does this mean that clamping an earth wire to the antenna mast and attaching other end to earth spike is not going to be enough protection for mounting Radar-Rama antenna outside?

Ive also had problems with my early batch RB,it went back to W&S in April and was returned to me promptly about 4 working days,sadly it developed the same faults and I sent it back on the 6th june.( signed for by them on 7th ) I recieved it back yesterday 25th they did not charge me this time but I had to pay £20 the first time,It seems to be better than when I sent it range now about 90nm, only 40nm prior to repair but not a patch on when I first got it 150nm plus.Ive no problem with Airnav they responded to my pleas for help very quickly but I am disapointed that such an expensive item has lasted less than 2 years

Hi Lou, have you tried checking all antenna connections, they can be easily damaged.

Hi CoastguardJon & Airnav, The first thing I did was have the aerial down and replace all connectors and cable I even managed to source a silver plated Greenpar Nplug, all the metalwork of my aerials are grounded (except driven elements) to lessen the risk of static build up also my RB aerial is situated on a seperate mast to my A/R gear, other end of building,i`m only running about 5 metres of cable to the RB. W&S told me that it was the saw filter also the engineer told me that he had reflowed the solder on some dry joints (both times)I`ll have a look at that topic now, thanks for your interest

Hi Lou, at least you've eliminated the antenna connection side of things.   Ask AN for a Returns Number.   After mine had been very clumsily repaired, I requested a new board, which was fitted.
