Light aircraft plunges into sea off Orford Ness A light aircraft crash-landed in the North Sea off the Suffolk coast.
The plane plunged into the sea on Wednesday evening, three miles from the Orford Ness lighthouse.
The plane was on its way from Germany to Norfolk when it suffered engine failure. Its mayday call was picked up by the Thames coastguard.
The two people on board were winched to safety by a rescue helicopter, aided by three lifeboats, and taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
The lifeboats were despatched from Harwich and Aldeburgh at about 1820 BST.
