Aircraft imported into the country by SA Express airline and just started its scheduled flying - was N484CA (I think)

Yes, it was fornerly N484CA with Continental Express.  However it's an ICAO CRJ2, not a CL60.

The South African Express Airlines has about 15 of these aircraft. They are all registered on the SA Civil Aviation Authority's register as CL60's but the description of the aircraft (on the register) varies and is sometimes
CANADAIR CL-600-2B19
and sometimes
BOMBARDIER CL600-2B19

For those that need information on South African registered aircraft the website is http://www.avdex.co.za/saregister/
(free registration) This website is fed information from the SACAA and is endirsed by them

It may be endorsed by the SACAA, but it's still wrong :-)

If it helps, Canadair/Bombardier designations and marketing names are as follows:

PS - I agree that the SACAA is probably not the "best" reference. It is staffed with Government officials :)

Updated 2 of them.  A27347 is a reserved code and has not yet been updated on the FAA database but is showing as for N257UF

MS : A27347 is a long standing miscode. Being used by UPS MD11F N257UP instead of A2734F.

I don't have a strong view one way or the other either.  My question was prompted by Rich's comment

which I didn't really understand.

The AirNav database schema, unless it has changed, doesn't allow for recording a miscode if that code is also used, correctly, by another aircraft (since MS is a PK in the Aircraft table).

That's the only PK, so it doesn't preclude recording both the allocated code and a miscode as long as no other aircraft are using the same code.
