HOME - problem
« on: March 27, 2010, 08:52:36 AM »
Any of you fellas know which file holds the `Home` information? I was daft enough to try and run my box using the wifes laptop which uses Vista. No problem at all on my other machines with XP but Vista, well, i now have three `HOME` locations so how the heck do i get rid of them?! Id like to do a labotomy on Vista at the best of times but we live in hope it will self destruct one day.  I can see me reloading the ruddy thing but if anyone knows.............Bi now, Roger

Hi Roger, must be quite an easy one, as I think even I can help you!

Go to File, select Preferences, you then get the menu of 4 screens, General, Radar Box, Home Station Data, and Map Colours.

In the Radar Box menu, bottom right corner, there's a tick box, whether to show the label "Home" on the display, I leave this unchecked.   In the box below are your Latitude and Longitude + any label you wish to add.    The Lat. and Long. are taken from the Home Station Data.   Lat. and Long. are in decimal format, and if West of Greenwich 0, a - symbol needs to be inserted.    Hope this helps!
ANRB :  AOR AR8000 : Icom R-7000 : Icom IC-R9000 : JRC NRD-545 : OptoElectronics Digital Scout and OptoLinx Interface; Realistic Pro-2005 : UBC 800XLT - listed in alphabetical order, not cost, preference, performance or entertainment value!

Hi Jon, many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. However, it was the first thing i tried to be honest and it appeared to make no difference - still got multiple Homes. Enevitably, i had to reload the thing - risking life and limb from the laptops owner (the local mafia leader, the missus) and it`s sorted itself out. No idea why it occurred but that`s Vista for you. Thanks once again for your trouble. Regards, Roger PS, I reckon it`s connected with the DO12 file in DATA. That gives us the polar chart and it`s probably mcoded in.

Hello
I have a home marker problem to. This morning i started radarbox and my home marker stood on the wrong place. After installing the  longitude and lattitude again ( in preference )my home marker was placed in Germany. If i go to the correct place on the map with the mousemarker the long/latt on the down side of the screen is oké.
The only way to get the home marker on the correct place is to right click on the mouse and to install there.
The long/latt in the preference give's then a wrong indication. who can help ?

Fred

Fred,

The Lat/Lon format in Preferences>Home Station Data is in decimal degrees like:

51.1234   -2.5123

The Lat/Lon shown at the bottom right on the screen when you move the cursor over the map in in degrees and decimal minutes like:

51 7.404   -2 30.738

Make sure that you are entering the correct decimal degrees in the Preferences window - both those positions I've given above are for the same place, but in a different format.

This is the converter I used:

if i am right, the home location is the D016.dat file in the data folder.
you can drag it into notepad and correct it.
(25km) from Schiphol Amsterdam(EHAM)

Why bother doing this when you can correct it in Preferences?

Edit: I don't have any data in D016.dat

that is the file which holds your own locations you can fill in.
i don,t like my town as "home",but it is shown by it's name(Leiden).
"draw home location legend" is unchecked.
maybe  g0seg has something in there that is wrong

But these locations are entered using Preferences>RadarBox - no need to mess around with the D016.dat file?
