To be fair that info is mostly populated from Airliners.net.  Maybe you should press on their forums that they standardise the attributions that users have available to add when they upload photos to that site.

That's true, but then Airliners.net is free, so they get to make their own rules (and then ignore them) if they so desire.

I know AirNav are (or at least were) looking at sources that come with at least some guarantees of consistency.

It all seems to have gone a bit quiet, though, amid all the excitement over 3D.

A couple of questions I'm sure our learned experts/AirNav will be able to answer :-

1. When I view the MyLog data from the menubar and update/correct info on this screen will this new data automatically be transferred to the Navdata.db3 file - or do I need to use database explorer to make it permanent ?

2. If I check the "auto populate aircraft data" on the preferences dialogue will my manually updated info (entered as Q1) be overwritten by potentially old data from the AN server ?

Thanks

Hi eggplant

Q1 - MyLog gets its data from NavData, not the other way round, so any changes that you make to MyLog only apply there. You need to update NavData separately, then updates you make there will be applied in the future to new records in Mylog - hope that makes sense!

Q2 - potentially, yes, as it might well be when RadarBox auto-populates from the AirNav server. This is a part of the problems that we hope AirNav will be looking at when they update the whole issue of the Database.
