loss of usb connection to box?
« on: January 20, 2010, 10:39:21 AM »
Hi all,
I am running AirNav 2010 under Windows 7 32 bit
I am often finding the software has lost connection
to the AirNav box. If I unplug the USB and re plug
again all starts to work. My system runs 24/7 uploading
images to my website http://g0hwc.com/airnav.html

What is the link to latest USB driver for Win 7 32bit ?

Any other pointers ?

Paul

There have been a few similar questions about USB connections failing lately if you have a trawl round the forum.

Changing the cable seems to be the preferred remedy.

That would seem to be the latest.

Checking the power saving for the USB root hubs is off is important too.

Cable next on the list.

I keep getting a similar prob running on XP. If I run another piece of hardware off a USB such as a printer or external hard drive, I lose the connection to RB, but not straight away.

Almost certainly a power issue.  Are you using a laptop or a desktop PC?  Are you using a USB hub, or is it a built-in USB port?

Using a PC with RB plugged into the built in hub. Only other hardware using USB are mouse and keyboard. Other pieces are either turned off or disconnected. This was never a problem with the old software, in fact then I had all my USB ports used, plus a hub, which was also full most of the time.

The new software V3.13 will have no affect at all on the USB connection - unless you have installed the wrong non AirNav driver maybe?

Have you tried a different cable?

I have found some USB ports better than others. Try changing to another socket.

I have not been able to change the USB cable due to the set up, which has a couple of active USB cables running to the aerial which is on my roof. If this is the prob then I'll just have to put up with the minor inconvenience, and remember to reset the USB.

As for the drivers, I may well have old ones installed as I did a reinstall recently from the CD I got with the box last year. I did use the full programme for the 2010 update, but can you please point me to the latest drivers so I can load them just to make sure.

Many thanks, Steve

The drivers will have been installed in the new RadarBox 2010 directory - see here for the directory structure:

Drivers look ok so I guess it's the USB cable. I'll just have to live with it, at least the programme is working ok so will just have to remember to reset the cable or use RB on my laptop when working on the main PC.

Many thanks for your help, Steve

Instead of the "couple of active usb cables" you could try a USB Server, it's a usb2tcp/ip interface.
