SquawkBox update
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:55:09 AM »
Here's an update of SquawkBox, the program that translates squawk codes and displays flights on Google Map or Google Earth displays.

SquawkBox now has the added possibility to filter the flights displayed by modeS. This means you can apply a filter so that you just see military flights for example (as requested by Alllocator on http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=2910.0).

For those users who want to show off their airspace to others and who know a little about website hosting I have also made it possible for users to broadcast their flights on a Google Map or a Google Earth display. This also requires that a webhosting service like IIS or Apache is present. Along these lines...
http://94.192.139.189/SquawkBox/GoogleMaps/Broadcast_flights.html for Google Maps or like this.....
http://94.192.139.189/SquawkBox/GoogleEarth/Broadcast_flights.kml for Google Earth (this is using Apache). The Google Earth display should also give people a rough idea of how RadarBox 3D will look on its main display when it comes out.

I'll try and keep these links active today (UK time) Wednesday 6th January, but I need to use my computer for other things after that, although I can easily reactivate them on request. Thanks to Allocator for testing the modeS filter and to Apo from the SBS forum who has been a star in having the patience to test many different versions.
