Code Sharing (Alpha-Numeric) Flight Numbers

I find these becoming a bit of a pain. I am not in anyway blaming the Airnav team for this,because the said flight nos are not the easiest thing to keep up with, same for some BA Shuttle numbers.Is there any sort of ''look-up'' available (not necessarily to incorporate in ANRB) for decoding these. Would be grateful for any advice. Whilst I'm here, compliments of the season to all including the team at Airnav.

Hi DeeJay

I'm not sure what it is about flight numbers that you are talking about. Are you saying that the correct route isn't being shown? If so there are several threads about this, and there's not a lot we can do as they change so often.

If that doesn't answer your question, please explain!

I think DeeJay means the short-form used by (among others) Lufthansa, such as "DLH 1U" instead of "DLH 4728" or whatever the four digit number may be ?

....and before anybody pulls me up for using the wrong codes, I made them up to use as an example :o)

Thanks for response. Rod. What I mean is that there are a lot of e.g BMA2AX or DLH4PL  EZY4MN (all bar the first one ficticious), with no routes shown at all. I had,some time ago seen the thread explaining the difficulties that Airnav have with these,but just thought that somewhere there may have been some sort of method for decoding these types of flight numbers. I use flight display with my other rig, and even that,of late, is not  always dependable for that type of flight number

Deejay and fellow Rb owners, I am afraid that there is no way that Airnav or anyone else can decode these. I actually work with the person who allocates them for BA flights. They used to be allocated using  combination of letters based on origin and/or destination, but now there are so many that we are using the departments staff initials. i.e. the BAW7TG (BA2227) uses my initials and was based on my Gatwick experience.The ATL flt was a LGW flt (since BCAL days). Alpha Numeric flt numbers are supposed to be for a season only and are only allocated if requested by ATC/Crews due to callsign confusion.  Hope this helps with the background.

A suggestion - as part of the LHR Mailing List, Andy McGregor produces every day's total arrivals and departures for Heathrow, which shows both short form and long form Flight Numbers. I attach an example of a tiny part of his listing.
