I'm building myself up to upgrade from v2.01 to v3.13 as I'm computer techno-challenged.

1. I've looked at the previous posts and I'm wondering what is the safest and easiest method - a complete install or the upgrade link?

2. What material difference does it make if I don't make copy and paste of my current MyLog.db3 and NavData.db3?  What would I actually lose.

3. Is there anyone who is totally technophobic as me and actually been running 2.01 and upgraded to 3.13 - can someone PM me how they did it without suffering a mental breakdown?

Thanks very much everyone,

Don't have a box myself yet butt i know there are some versions of win 7 and vista have problems to right/back to the c drive.
This has to do with the admin rights, altough there is one user on the pc, vista and win 7
sign the rights to Trusted installer/ hidden admin on the setup.
Its easy to check if you have the full rights.
Click on the c:/ drive with right mouse button and choose propertie's.
Then go to security.. highlight youre account and select advanced.
Select the tab where its say owner (3rd tab).
If you see TrustedInstaller, then you have not all the rights but the hidden admin have.
What you must do is to gain the full rights.
This take away a lot of problems with installed prog.

Thanks very much everyone,

What operating system are you using - XP or Vista?

With XP the 'upgrade is easy' but don't actually go for the upgrade, download the full install version of the RB software.  V3.13 will install into a completely separate directory, so you don't need to uninstall V2.01 - so all your old files are there for you when you need them.

If you don't copy across your MyLog.db3 then you will loose the historic record of what you have already detected - depends how serious you are about records.

I copy across my NavData.db3 file too, as this is the one that has the source aircraft details that are autopopulated, updated whaen you use Database Explorer, and give you the details in the aircraft lists and on the screen.

It's really easy with XP.

Hi Allocator,

Thanks for responding. i've XP on my Netbook and Vista on my Laptop.  Does the Vista system for 3.13 cause any issues?  Would you suggest as AirNav that I just click on the link that just 'updates' V2.01

Thanks again,

Best advise with Vista is to NOT install in the default folder, but instead install in somewhere like C:\Airnav, for example.  You will then avoid the problems of Vista's Virtual Store.

When my PC went Pete Tong (not long after I bought ANRB), I installed the basic software version onto my partners laptop.  It has Vista as OS.  I then uploaded the 3.13 upgrade (not full install) and everything worked perfectly.

Hi Airnav,

This problem continues, what could it be?

Thanks

Aerotower, some possible reasons:
1. Power cut
2. PC put into standby or hibernate
3. ANRB crashed

Anything that would have stopped ANRB detecting the end of a flight.

Hi Tarbat,

Most likely ANRB crashed, so I was looking at MyLog, there are some planes with different dates.

What is this AIRNAV? It is not the first time it happens, and it's always when I have the network connected.
