IPhone App - "Plane Finder"

Disappointing :( All this fixation with iPhone.  Low battery life, no multi tasking, no data push etc

But I agree that battery life is rubbish and it would be nice to have multi-tasking although the only computer I have experienced true multi-tasking on were my old Commodore Amiga's - even the PC some 20-odd years on could learn a few tricks!; ^)

I guess developers have to take a view on where they can recoup the biggest return on their investment and there is no doubting the popularity of the iPhone...I still use my old Nokia 6310i for a 'phone but would not want to be without my iPhone for everything else!

I already feed data to PF and have checked with Mark who sent a log of my transmissions last week to give me peace of mind that my data was arriving at Ship/Plane Finder HQ.

I installed PlanePlotter specifically to feed my data to you guys but it might be an idea to maybe look at authoring a small app that sits quietly in the background peeling data from the relevant SBS/RB port and feeding it directly to you?

Then if the PP site ever goes down you could carry on receiving data from us and continue streaming data to your PF users without depending upon a 3rd party.

I was sat on the sidelines wondering whether to install PP for many months before I decided to go for it.

If I had access to a small app whose sole raison d'être was to sit discretely and take the data from the SBS/RB port I would have installed that straight away.

Food for thought maybe?

That's nowhere near Lee - just because it's a woman using the iPhone doesn't make it multitasking! ;^)

I'm an iPhone advocate but even I would admit it does have its weak points and Graham has highlighted the major ones IMHO.

I know AirNav have been busy with ANRBv3 & ANRB3D but I would have expected to see an iPhone app from them some time ago now?

Bought my iPad a few days ago and downloaded Plane Finder. What a fantastic App. Today, there was an update so there are a couple of nice extra features. I,m amazed how much coverage there is. I'm really quite impressed and I'm sure it will get even better over time. Anybody else using Plane Finder on the iPad yet?

Yup. I've got this App and it works great. However, like a reviewer said in iTunes, why is there no aircraft type on the label? Also, it's frustrating that the labels can overlap one another, even if there are only two aircaft meaning that you can't read the info on the label behind. Will either of these issues be addressed in a future update at all?

I have got Flight Radar 24 on the Android. Is Plane Finder better, or are they about the same. I find Flight Radar 24 very good.
