If you're not familiar with editing the registry, then I wouldn't suggest trying it.  If you really want to take the risk, then just run REGEDIT.

AFAIK, there's no evidence that registry settings are causing these problems.

I'm game for a laugh, if the worse comes to the worst, I can do another re-set of the machine, back to the factory defaults again!     I assume I can't do permanent damage to the Acer pre-loaded software and partition...................?

I've noticed that the preference to hide the network flights 5 minute delayed network message permanently appears to get reset on restarting 3.06 beta.
