RadarBox Software Download ?
« on: September 26, 2009, 12:48:33 PM »
Hi all,

I just ordered RB online.

Is there anywhere I can just download the software (or demo software) whilst I await the full package to arrive ?

Would be nice just to get a feel of the program and see whats what.

Cheers,
Paul

The current production release (v2.0) is available at:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/RadarBox/support.html

The current public beta release (v3.01) is available at:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/ANRB301BetaSetup.exe

Latest beta, v3.06, should be released soon ;)

Both can be used in "demo" mode.

G'day Doug!

Yep, can't wait.

Where are you located ?

I'm not totally new to Airnav. I bought one of the earliest versions of Airnav way back around 1998 (4 x 3.5 floppy disks)  .... Or was it 6 floppies ???

I'd fire up the Sangean ATS SSB or my trusty Uniden Bearcat Scanner and enter the A/C positions manually.

They were the days!

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Paul.

I live near Leeds in Yorkshire.
Just heard the Red Arrows call into Leeds Bradford on their way to Southport Airshow.
Sounds like they'll soon be there as they've just been handed over to Manchester.

You're in for a treat when the box arrives.
Best thing I've bought in years.

I used to use AirNav Suite 4 and dabbled with Acars Decoder 2 a couple of years ago but got busy with other things.

Just recently started to get interested again.

I'm sure you will enjoy using the RB.

Has it arrived yet?  ;oD

Cheers,

Doug

Hi Doug,

The Red Arrows enroute. What a blast!

Yes, Airnav Suite 4. That's what I bought on floppy disks all those years back. I also had the ACARS decoder (and some other free ACARS software, can't recall the name now.)

Same thing happened to me. Life got in the way of hobbies.

Now I have a re-kindled interest. And who would have dreamt of having this magic box technology back then ?

I just looked out the window, but not a postman or courier in sight! bugger!!

Cheers,

Paul.

Wacars?

I started with that and worked my way up.

The only flying Vulcan Bomber will be going to Southport tomorrow so I am hoping to hear it if nothing else.
Didn't pick any of the Red Arrows on the RB so they must have been in my bad direction at low level and then nipped over the hills to the west.

Yes, WACARS.

Is that still around?

Those Red Arrows must be extremely fast and stealthy!

Good luck with that Vulcan too.

Paul.

Doug,
How do you see the Red Arrows? Do they have a Flight ID or Reg or Squawk?

I only heard them talking to Leeds and then handed over to Manchester.

I was looking on the RB screen but nothing showed up unfortunately.

Hello all,

Just ordered my RadarBox 2009 and looking forward to playing with it.

Expect delivery on Tuesday or Wednesday - when I'll be at work and miss the courier - AARGH!

Hopefully should have it my hands by Weds evening (after paying as much in petrol as my courier premium - hey ho!)

I do have one very important question before I start going, though:

I have two working computers at home:

One is a 16" laptop that I use as desk-based replacement for my old PC.

The other is a a 10" netbook (Samsung NC-10) that I take out 'on-the-road'.

My question is this:

When I get my new RB2009 setup, can I install the software on both computers?

I've been caught out before by installing software onto the 'wrong' computer first! (and then not being able to use it on my other computer)

I'd like the benefit of the larger screen when I'm at home and the portability of my netbook when away from home.

As far as I can see, I need the hardware plugged-in anyway, so would prove that I was a legitimate user whichever machine I was using at the time.

Any ideas please?

Hmmm....

You're not looking 100% there Chris.
You feeling OK.
It could be swine flu.
Better take a few days off work to be on the safe side.   ;o)

Welcome to the fold.
You'll love it.

I don't think you are limited to one PC with the software but I'm sure support will correct me if I am wrong.

Chris,

You can install the RB software on as many PC's as you like, as you are quite correct in saying that you need the hardware (receiver) plugged in for the software to do anything other than play back recorded files (very handy for giving demonstrations when it's just too difficult or impractical to set up the hardware and antenna).

The only snag with running RB on more than one PC, is that you will end up with different logs of received aircraft on each PC, unless you copy the MyLog.db3 database across each time.  I'm not too worried about having 100% accurate logs, but I know that some people see this as a major issue.

Yes, you can install on more than one PC.  I have RB installed on my desktop and my Samsung NC10.  You can only use the software with the radarbox receiver plugged into one computer at a time of course.
