email alerts no longer working
« on: September 08, 2009, 07:09:55 AM »
Not sure if this is related to the beta, but seeing as that is what I'm running I'll post it here.

I haven't received any email alerts for the last 2 days, nor the daily log that is configured to automatically mail me at 00.00 UTC.

I've just tried the "send now" and again no email received.

Also I just received a local alert (the usual duplicate one as well!) and RB says it has sent the email, but nothing received.

Anyone know what is going on?

Actually - now you mention it - they were working for me, but that was a few days ago - I don't normally use them except for beta testing!

Just trying them again now, and no joy - they're not working at all, local or network, sound and popups are fine, but no emails.

I'm pretty sure they were working with my current software release - could this be a server problem?

Yes they were previously working with the current beta. Last alert email I received was on 6th Sept.

I suspect you may be right, maybe its a server problem?? Maybe they are all queued up and we're all about to receive an avalanche of mail when the problem is fixed :)

There was a change of the mail server yesterday and I think that has caused this.

No joy with my e-mail alerts.  It's not working either.

Just sent myself yesterdays log manually and that worked.

Have we lost all the alerts/logs that have been sent over the past couple of days?

Maybe there's something specific to your alerts that's causing this.  I never see duplicates.  Might be worth checking in the registry for anything strange in the alert settings:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AirNav Systems\ANRB\1\General
memo1text - mode-s hex codes
memo3text - registrations
memo4text - aircraft types
memo5text - flight ids
memo7text - squawk codes

looks ok to me - is cr/lf/nul the normal termination for the strings?

actually - is there somewhere else these might be stored - I also have B744 aircraft alerts now but that's not in the registry at the above location??

Note, these only get entered into the registry when you close Radarbox - so if B744 is a new entry, it won't be in memo4text until you close Radarbox.

My registry entries look slight different:

No cr/lf at the end.

yes the B744 was new, closing & restarting RB made the entry appear.

The cr/lf only seems to indicate you've hit "enter" after entering the data. I've now "backspaced" the registration field so there is no cr/lf there, but it is still there between the A380 and the B744.

Will see what happens with the different alerts now.
