Data input to the Routes Database

Please forgive me if this has been expained before, but could somebody point me in the right direction.
When inputing data to the database I have input flight number unde FN then start of the flight at NO and finish at ND.

I have input quite a few Wizz flights but they do not show when the flight appears on the screen.

What is the code in the column CH that some flights appear to have and is this necessary for the data to be shown?

If they don't input then irrespective of what you do at the RB end, the route will not show. Hence even with flights where the routing is showing, this may be for a previous sector that the aircraft has done and it just means that the flight crew have not updated the system for the current flight.
It looks like Wizz Air flight crew just can't be bothered !

The crew aren't supposed to have a choice - for any international IFR flighjt it's mandatory to have the Mode S Flight ID field filled.

Actually Wizz Air are pretty good, around 75% of the 26,000 or so WZZ flights that I have logged had callsigns shown (although not always with the WZZ prefix).  I suspect that Malcolm's problem is that he can see callsigns on the screen but he can't get the route to display.

My problem is an explaination of the databank.

What do the letters at the top of each column stand for.

The code at the end of each entry, I suspect it may be some form of date as it starts with the year and does each entry have to have this code?

Has there been a thread before on this subject?

CH is a date/timestamp, used by Radarbox to decide when to expire the route details.  I always put today's date/time in that field.

That's what I mean. They have to put in their flight call sign but is it also mandatory for the flight crew to put in their route details ? I think that is what Malcolm is wondering about. He is getting call signs/ID's for Wizz Air but in many cases no route details for that flight even though the route details do exist on the airnav database.

Can someone confirm what the 'expiry' on route data is ?

I have had a number of flights displaying without route information but when I check the routes table in all cases I have found the date in the CH column to be greater than six months prior to current date.

When I change the date in CH to current date and uncheck and recheck the Process Hardware Flights box the route displays.

Hi Wayne

The date is meant to reduce the load on the AirNav server by only checking for route updates every six months for any given route. There are some problems with this routine in the current Beta, and we're waiting to see how it pans out.

The theory is (I think) that all valid flight IDs should be checked against the AirNav server if there is no data or no date in the routes table, or a date older than six months in the routes table. If Airnav doesn't have that route anymore, then the existing table data should be used.

That's not exactly how it's working at the moment, but Version 3.02 is getting nearer.....

Thanks guys for your comments, most interesting, but what I am looking for is an expaination of how to enter data into the routes section of the data bank.
The code at the end of the entry as TARBAT explained is a date stamp, how do you arrive at this code and is it necessary to have it.

Sorry to be so dumb, but I don't understand how this works.

Malc - it's just a date and time - example "20090507101010" - YYYYMMDDHHMMSS - year month day hour minute second.

As I explained before, if you put this in, say with today's date and time, then RB will accept it as recent information, and should display the route correctly. If you leave it out, RB will try to look it up and may update it, which you may not want it to do.

As I also said before, this routine isn't working correctly at the moment, so don't expect it to behave like I just described :-)

hi Rod, that explains whats going on here,3 delta flts are not showing route data,this am ,this system is a bit frustrating as i seem to update them nearly every day,anyway look for ward to the next beta,

Don't forget that Delta 767-300's would appear to not be equiped with ADSB and therefore will not appear on the map anyway although they will, of course, appear on the grid.

I have carried out some tests on my RB and answered my own question regarding whether or not the date stamp should be there.
If there is no date stamp, the origination and destination airports do not show in the table.
I hope this helps others.
