Emirates A380
« on: July 14, 2009, 10:19:58 AM »
Hi guys,

Apologies if this info is in the wrong section but thought it best here in order to have maximum coverage. On the 9th September 2009, the Emirates flight EK 039/040 into Birmingham from Dubai will be by A380 for one day only.
On this particular day the corresponding EK001/002 service from Dubai to LHR will be by B777-300ER with a 1st class cabin.

Ian, is there any particular reason for this switch of aircraft?

Spaice, no reason has been given. Possibly a test of ground services ?

I get some good visuals of EGBB easterly departures (also EGLL EGKK EGSS EGGW northerly departures) here near Biggleswade :-) Will keep my eye open (sic) on 09.09.09. It would be one hell of a coincidence if it arrived at 0909hrs!

I have yet to pick up the Emirates A380 direct flight from Dubai to Toronto. Does it overfly the uk? If so, what time and route.  (Many of the route identifiers and airway designators have changed since I retired. Where would I find the current listing?)

Once had a BA 747-400 in at EGXC for a naming ceremony 'City of Lincoln' and had to borrow steps to get the crew off it.

I've had UAE242 (westbound) on my box half a dozen times since it changed from from 777s to A380, mostly routing along UL9, but never the eastbound flight UAE243.

Allegedley 7th Sept, however nothing in Chromafusion as yet, and yes to test the Airport infrastructure, should be interesting as the 777 already has probs parking at the end of c pier.

According to Flight Global, the A380 is visiting Birmingham in celebration of the airports 70th anniversary.

Also it's worth keeping an eye open for the Airfrance A380 due to be delivered later in the year.  currently in Handburg.

Has anyone got an update on this flight - Is it still scheduled to happen - ETA - ETD etc.

It is scheduled to do the BHX lunchtime service today, but I still would prefer to see a nice B747 the A380 is one ugly aircraft IMHO.

Check the BHX online arrivals for times.
