Polar diagram does it change
« on: July 13, 2009, 08:51:54 PM »
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the maximum range polar diagram actually serves a purpose?Does the shape and range of it change?
I went out in the car today and tried it on a big hill in stafford, then just tried it at home albeit later one,and the diagram is the same,i know this because i made a print screen of it this afternoon and just compared and there no different.
Anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks Gary

Right getting a bit further as ihave read that you have to clear polar data in the preferences first or it will remember last diagram, think thats where i was going wrong, but hey, whats happening now,i have just reset preferences and done test again, now it looks like im picking nothing up hardly at all, spikey diagram, heres the pic.

You need to give it a few hours (or days in my location) for the polar diagram to build up.

No, the Polar Diagram is only created when you detect an aircraft, so no aircraft, no Polar Diagram - loads of aircraft, excellent Polar Diagram :-)

It can take many days to build up a full polar chart, depending on traffic volumes in your area.  I've had to wait 3-4 days to even get the following coverage:

If you want a more detailed coverage chart like this, including Flight Levels (FL) covered, then Overflight Logger v3.3 can give some great results.

Airnav Development - worth adding this type of coverage chart to the Airnav Flightwatch wish-list.
