New Vista install msgs/sec issue ?
« on: June 06, 2009, 08:30:05 AM »
Hello all , im a little confused here ...

After installing Vista yesterday (upgrade from xp ) ive found the msgs/sec have dropped
dramatically ... at least by half !
I was getting say upto 200 ... now this morning im only getting upto 40 !

anything i should know in the settings etc etc ? ( changed refresh rate to 4000 )
or am i going to go back to XP and call vista an utter waste of money ?

Any advice would be really helpful

I wonder if Vista has installed its own driver, rather than using the RadarBox driver?

I'm not a Vista user, so one of the experts will have to help out here.

Just a bit odd that the Vista install/upgrade corresponded with the drop in traffic detected.  I'd still look at the driver first before assuming the worst.

Hi , tried installing the box on my laptop ... looks like the same !

Possibly the weather at the mo .. cloudy and heavyish rain , plus reinstalled the driver off the disc .

Same ... ill keep it running for a while and see if anything improves with the change of weather etc..

Not going to hold my breath though ..
Looks like a repair ! if so ...who where and how much ?

thanks APS

Waters & Stanton (who look after all UK   ANRBs for Airnav)
Cost - should be nothing - warranty should cover.

However you should at first approach   the supplier(if not W&S).

As it  is the same on another machine - looks possible you have the SAW filter problem

Thanks Dave , im sure the box is still under warranty ... but i aquired it through someone else .. used .

So im resigned to the fact i may need to pay as im not sure the warranty will have transfered with the ownership ?
Maybe Admin/support could advise

thanks again Tony

Sorry to bleat on about the driver issue, but is is work making 100% sure that you are OK here.  I have no idea how you do this with Vista, but it is well worth while actually looking at the Device Manager to make sure that RB IS using that driver.  I've managed to run RB (not very well) using the completely wrong FTDI driver.

See this support video:

http://www.airnavsystems.com/radarbox/video/Drivers.wmv

At least if you rule this out as the problem, then it will put you in a better position to explain your problem.

Not a problem Allocator , im all for different ideas etc.. ive already been into the device manager and it shows the drivers are all upto date  etc .. i even deleted it and re-installed the device while aquireing the driver from the nav disc.

thanks again Tony
