Merging database files?
« on: June 03, 2009, 05:41:11 PM »
I may have asked this before...

What would be the best way to merge the various RB database files I have lurking around here?

I have used my RB on an older W2K machine and run two (three if you count last years Beta) on this machine in various guises, 2008, 2009 etc.

I am thinking I would like to merge all of these databases into one main one.

In the 2009/Data folder on this PC I can see;

MyLog.db               73,293 KB

In the 2008/Data folder the same file is 15,305 KB

In the older machines 2008/Data folder ISTR the filesize is @ 50-60MB

I did try before using SQLiteAnalyzer but despite some grand efforts from the Author (and my ignorance of everything SQL) it didn't work out as expected with duplicate entries in MyLog under Aircraft where there should obviously only be one entry - with the multiple instances of the various flights for that aircraft in the lower window - see attached .jpg

I figured now would be the time what with the imminent release of v2.10 in case there are any changes to the database in store for us(!)

In any case it would be a worthwhile exercise for me to be able to consolidate all of the aircraft I have recorded into the one database.

Any help/advice/hints/tips//complete-dummies-guide-for-idiots-with-hand-holding-and-lifetime-technical-support would be gratefully received and much appreciated! :-)

Thanks & regards,

Hi Glyn,

You may have answered your own question in this thread, if I've read it right

I did say I may have asked this before (thanks for the link John:-) but I'm reading it now and it doesn't make any sense at all...:-(

I was hoping by now there might be a simple program that does what I want by just pushing a button(!) or some kind soul might offer a 'Dummies Guide' or something...

I have enough buzzing about in my brain right now without getting down & dirty with SQL ;^)

Kind regards,
