The Radarbox returns
« on: May 22, 2009, 08:09:54 AM »
Just received my radar box back from W&S.

Saw front end filter defective and replaced.

Just turned on box and it is working as well if not slightly better than before.

At the moment 350 m/sec and 129 flights in Myflights.

I have reset my polar diagram so will see if there is an improvement.

Its been over two weeks away but hopefully worth it and thanks to all who assisted.

  Glad to hear it's back......

Same here-a big improvement over original  performance- right now 111 flights/303  messages.

Definitely food for thought.

Meant to add -- no significant change in  polar diagram - maybe a few tiny nibbles at the edge.... I think the overall sensitivity is what has changed - weak signals being received better.

Hi terry noticed you live on the approach to Leeds and saw how many flights and messages per second you get and it got me thinking that I live in Leeds too and I don't get nowhere near that reception max around 35 to 40 flights just wondering have u go an external antenna or use the supplied one?

Cheers mark

Hi Mark,

I live about 7 miles from LBA and I am at 150 metres asl, not clear in every direction unfortunately.

I have the Radarextender external aerial from W&S.

At the moment I am receiving 420 m/sec and have 156 flights in Myflights.

I am in a bungalow and the aerial is on a pole about 2 metres above the chimney stack, very long lengths of old coax though.
