New Location
« on: May 06, 2009, 07:05:33 PM »
Moved up the road a few miles, so I'm closer to Northolt now than Heathrow.  Standard antenna is 4 feet above ground level on the outside window ledge of a 3 floor brick building facing east.

I must say that I'm very surprised at the range I'm getting considering the location.  Nice room, but lower down and I can't see the Heathrow climbouts from the window!

Still getting pretty good coverage of Heathrow though - filters set to only show traffic below FL150.

I work all over the place, but at the moment it's near Heathrow.  I spent ages trying to see an A380, but whenever I was in front of my RadarBox, it was dark when the A380 went out!  I saw the lights many times, but I didn't see the aircraft until flying out of Heathrow to Venice a couple of weeks ago :-)

Talking about traffic, you should see the road traffic at times - agghhhhh!!!!

Allocator if you're staying off the A40 I hope the place you're at has decent soundproofing!

However, being stuck in traffic isn't all that bad. If you're gridlocked on the M25 in the right place at the right time, you never know, it might just be at an A380 moment.

Neathrow is on Rwy 27 today, and I CAN see the inbounds from my new east facing window.  The inbounds are passing just to the north-east of me at about FL70 :-)  They are just coming in, one after the other - well done Heathrow Director!

I can see the northbound departures too - fantastic!

Altitude filters in to only show traffic below 15,000 ft - otherwise, it's just too busy!
