Hi all
       I have been lurking on here for a few months now and thought I would introduce myself. Every since my days of spotting at "Ringway" 35 years ago I have spent my life looking up at the skies at aircraft and wondering where is going, what type is it, where is it from. I finally took the Plunge after much salivating over all your polar diagrammes etc and WOW what a piece of kit. So thanks for that Airnav ( you made a 43 year old back into a 13 year old).

I live about 10 miles from MAN, on the flight path too 24R in Stockport.

So I've done it, I'm Finally out of the closet. Next big step is too tell the wife I wear her clothes while she's out..... ha ha ha ha

Hi Colin enjoy being "out" not sure about the wife's clothes but your amongst friends with the aviation bits. Enjoy the radarbox and the site were you are guranteed friendly advice and banter.

I live in Northern Ireland but love Manchester Airport's Viewing park and get there at least once a year (relatives in Blackpool so good for Warton also). I don't get over anywhere near often enough but it helps. I kinda agree about the 747 and other types as opposed to the younger variety or lack of variety. As you'll guess from that I'm in the older age bracket also (53) but yes the Radabox has added a new spark, actually saying that makes me think what a shame i never really see the wife much these days!!!!

Not sure about B747 vs A380 ...but am sure about the Radarbox having recently aquired one ....sadly after a week it has had to go back for a fault  to be fixed  but W&S assured me today that it should be back with me very soon....

Marvellous invention - on a par with the first commercially available VHF Airband receivers back in the 60s -when almost all aircraft used their registrations or serials as callsigns(I started looking at aircraft around 1954!)

Now - B747s or A380s - both big -  both technological wonders - yes .....

But you ain't  seen nothin' if you haven't seen a  night take of  of a TWA Jetstream Starliner (L1649) pounding down 28L at  Heathrow (it was 28 not 27 then!) ........or Convair B-36  at Greenham - "6 a-turnin'  and 4 a-burnin'".

Early 707 maybe? that sounds daft even to me.. anyway i still remember the Air France corvettes(spelling?) and the Dan Air Comet 4c's and the tridents........ halcyon days........ oh and LAKER AIRWAYS DC10S all 1 of them

Hi dave have to agree that the A380 is different class, really the modern 747, or it has the chance to be. It  was the other Airbus types I meant are a bit samey.

I think that the A380 is beauitiful only because its huge and new, but nothing beats a BAW/ANZ 744...(or QANTAS for that matter)

Have seen the A380  fly over within yards of my house but it did nothing for me.......... maybe the wrong dress lol.... the 747 MEGAtop for me will not be beat
