Can you just confirm. I have my setup to only download One photo. Is this item telling me that unless I download 2 pictures then I don't get GAS Populate to work.  I hope that is not the case. I only want ONE photo and even then GAS Populate should work just on the basis of the hex number not having a tie-in with anything currently in the my database and not also need photos otherwise it is a waste of time and unfair on those that dont want 2 or even 1 photo.......

Remember, I haven't tried this version with an Internet connection, but yes.  One picture set to download, no GAS search and no photo downloads - it is an unresolved bug.

Also, the way that the GAS populate/photo download SEEMS to work is:

- GAS database is checked to match the Mode S hex code

- Aircraft record found

- Registration from aircraft record used to search Airliners.net database

- Database populated and photo downloads take place.

- if No GAS record = no photo search

- if No photo available to download from Airliners.net, or only one photo, or one/two photos already in /Data/Photo/ directory, then no database populate.

I do think that the logic needs a tweek here AirNav, as there are too many "fail" points when some of the data/photos are not present.

When I'm running the laptop, I deselect the "download 2 photos" to give me more room for the map whilst seeing the single photo and route details.

Because I use RadarBox on a laptop I only want to download one photo, and sometimes I even switch that off but the logic must be changed to ensure that GAS populate is checked when an unknown hex is picked up and there should be no other criteria otherwise it is useless. I dont want to have to check to see if I have photos and delete them just to get aircraft details.

AirNAv Sounds like a bit of bad logic there......

cant agree more. I've asked for there to be an option for NO photos but GAS update. What was the logic in leaving so many aircraft out of the scope for gas populate ??

I fully subscribe to b744's view. No Photos but GAS downloads might solve other problems. And one could finally have a longer (hopefully not jumping) aircraft list.

All:

We have listened to what you have mentioned regarding scroll bars, interface and the GAS Link and we will get back with information as soon as we have it on when that will be rectified.

walfisch:

Sounds like you have not updated your driver. Please do that step otherwise you can't update the firmware.

My procedure for upgrade (update) software from ver. 1.0. to 1.3 on XP SP2.
I follow this order:

2- If you have version 1.1 or 1.0 you should uninstall it and then install the new Version 1.3.
Important: do not follow the steps below if already have V1.2 installed (patch 1). Note that only 5% of the users need the steps below as most have already V1.2 running.

a) Uninstall your present version by going to:
- "Windows Start Menu", "All Programs", "AirNav Systems", "AirNav RadarBox 2007", "Unistall AirNav RadarBox 2007"

b) Download and install the new version from:
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRB13Setup.exe

c) You now have to update your current drivers. To do so:
To update them:
 - Go to "Windows Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager";
 - Browse "Universal Serial Bus Controllers";
 - Double Click over "AirNav RadarBox";
 - Go to the "Driver" tab, click "Uninstall";
 - Unplug your RadarBox from the USB Plug and then plug it again;
 - Windows detects a new hardware;
 - Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
 - Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install";
 - Click "Have Disk";
 - Select the "C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007\Drivers" folder;
 - Click Next and follow the specified instructions.

d) Your need to update your firmware. To do so download the firmware update application from the address below and save it to "c:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007":
http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/anrb/anrb13/FirmwareUpdater.exe

e) Run the firmware update application.
-------------------------
But after the firmware update the box needs to unplug and plug again the usb cable on usb port for resetting. The system asks AGAIN for DRIVERS. I install one more time the new drivers and everything works nice and smooth.

Hi Chris,

If its working then great. N.B It should only ask for drivers, if you plug it into a different USB port than last time.

Before install the new drivers for second time (same usb port) the blue led is blinking 4 times, 1blink/sec and 1 time 2blink/sec.
I think after firmware upgrade may be something change to connection between N.B and computer? Any way Works Fine now.

AirNav RadarBox 2007 Patch 1 is available for download.

Goodday Sir,

Thank you for this. I will install Patch 1 within the next coming days. I am asking me one thing.

Before uninstall the old version and install the new one:

Is there no need to make a back-up from some databases I edited the last time? P.e. my aircraft database and my routes database?

What is the name of this databases and where are they located?

Thanks in advance for the answers.
