Before and after antenna comparison
« on: April 24, 2009, 10:45:21 PM »
I have used my RB for several weeks now with the standard aerial sitting outside on an upstairs window ledge in my chalet style bungalow. Considering that I live in the bottom of a valley, with some openings to the South and West/North west I was most impressed at the coverage. Recently I took the plunge and invested a fair amount of time and money to install a high gain aerial with good quality cable about 6 foot above my chimney. I have attached the polar diagrams superimposed (apologies for the poor photoshopping !), and also a pic showing the mount positions. A large improvement of coverage to the North-east, which I put down to the lack of obstructions in the new position. Elsewhere there is only marginal improvement in coverage - likely due to the slightly elevated position. However, my flights per/day have increased from approx 1000 to 1700. Draw your own conclusions !

Looks good eggplant

Obstructions are a bummer.
