It's a CL-601 ser 1204

Tom

I don't think that's the case this time, probably due to a transponder swap.  The only GAF flights I've ever logged into KIAD are C-160s and A310s.  Probably unlikely they'd fly a Challenger across the pond for these typical visits.

Well whatever it is, it's now passing NORRY heading East, having come in from Youghal via EVRIN.

From South Wales Aviation Group log 03/12/2009:

It has ADS-B so likely an Airbus.  Sounded like one on the radio too.

Having never heard an actual Airbus on the radio, what exactly do they sound like?

Do they say "retard, retard, retard" or anything like that ;-)?

Let's hope he doesn't have a make a trip to MPA in the Falklands - a 24 Knt crosswind would be a calm day - lol

Still got him on PP 1800 ft as RCH267 descending squawking 7700 - no MLAT as he's too low and I've only just looked for him.  Finals for Prestwick?

A steady 24 kt is no problem - I think the C-17 can take 30 kt @90º. It's the unpredictability of gusts that make it dodgy to land. Discretion is the better part of valour.

I've been tracking him on PP and he's made it to Prestwick. Just after he departed the squall hit us here and the baro dropped to 989.

Hi these two USAF Tankers are up. Possibly West bound to meet inbound trafffic from the US. These inbound aircraft in turn are possibly in connection with the President's Copenhagen visit. Might be worthwhile watching and listening for a while tonight.

John,

I don't see any US Gov't ac on PP. QID85 and QID86 are tracking out from Leuchars to GOMOT at the moment.

Ah! an E-4B has just appeared, so AF1 should not be far away.

ADFEB6 E-4B 75-0125 squawk 5222. Climbing through FL290 in the Flamborough AARA, so I guess he's just been gassed up by one of the QIDs. He's tracking out past LONAM now (2133Z).

John,

Yes, as I wrote above the E-4B normally accompanies AF1, but no sign of him yet.
