The problem is if the aircraft 'registration' is something daft like 234. A search on airliners.net with such a meaningless registration is always going to fail, whether it is done manually or automatically by RB autopopulate.
That's precisely my point - the RadarBox server ignores the fact that it
already has a hex code by the time it does the photo lookup and hence
knows the type, and probably the operator, as well as the 'reg'.
So instead of searching airliners.net for a photo of the aircraft it has
already identified, say
'French Air Force Mirage F1 234' for example, instead the AirNav server does a totally random search based solely on the serial, and not only does it display a photo of the first '234' that it comes across, whether or not it bears any relation to the already-identified aircraft, it even populates the database with details which could be for a completely unrelated aircraft.
As I said in a previous post, AirNav have said that once V3.0 has settled down they will be looking at better ways of doing the above. I hope we don't have too long to wait.
