Radarbox Repair UK
« on: April 03, 2009, 05:59:42 PM »
Hello - I have sent a mail to RB support but I can't be the only one who has had this problem.  My RB is out of warranty and the USB connector has come removed from the ciruit board and needs to be re-connected.  Does anybody know how to get the units repaired?

Thanks
Mark

The warranty for the RB is 2 years, so are you sure it's not covered?

just got my RB back today after 3 weeks in repair for the same problem. In fact I had 2 the same unbelievabley. My box(es) were sent to Waters and Stanton via the retailer I bought them from. It was requested that they strengthen the solder for me , and they have done so. Maybe you could request the same, as the usb sockets are only lightly soldered (you can see how it sits if you have a torch and a good eye) I only had the boxes in Jan too. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a hardware change in production would be a useful improvement, SM connectors can be difficult to make robust and a mechanical retaining arrangement would help a lot.

I've now heard of 3 instances of this problem reported here.

The first few batches we took on board this comment and since then they soldered better.

However the returns now people have admitted they have pulled quite hard on the usb cable as they thought it may be a stuck when all it needs is a little tug.

Hi
I am also getting problems as of this morning with intermittent 'radarbox not responding' messages and very slow response times from the radarbox info  panels File.Map etc. Have tasted on different computers and changed USB cable but problem persists. I have had it since November and never taken it on the road so don't know how the connections have come loose, but cann't think of any other problem it might be.
