USB Extender Help
« on: March 31, 2009, 03:23:30 PM »
Ok proud new owner of my RB! BUT I am trying to set it up so the box is in the loft and it is not working.  I have a USB extender (designed for 45m cable runs) but cannot get it to work.  I have run 30m of cable.  Continuity tested by plugging in my mouse at one end and the pc at the other and all ok.

but for the RB

RB shows green light - blue flashing light (1 second Approx flash rate).

Hardware light goes green briefly in the program then goes back red.

Regards

Did you try the RB without USB extenders? I would try a shorter run of cable if possible. Don't think a mouse would draw as much power as the RB so thats why it works. I too use USB extenders but only use 5m of cat6 cable. Good luck.

Hi

What type of USB Extender do you use?

And have shortening your cable effected on smth?
Does it work properly now with shorter cable or not?

We also have a problem with USB Extender but not with power consumption.

We have tested following extenders

1. Lindy USB Extender
http://www.lindy.co.uk/usb-extension-cat5-usb-extender-premium-up-to-50m/42801.html)

2. StarTech.com USBThere USB100EXT
http://www.startech.com/item/USB100EXT-USBthere-Bus-Powered-330-Ft-USB-Ethernet-Extender.aspx

No one USB extender do not work properly with RadarBox.

It’s very strange but through the USB Extenders there is a loss of some data (Flight ID, GS, Hdg, Latitude and Longitude).
Especially coordinates are not shown! It’s very simple to check.

Dear all who have any type of USB Extender please check them and share information on this matter with us.

Dear AirNav Team please, say directly what type of USB connection (USB 1.1 or USB 2.0), speed (1.5 Mb/s, 12 Mb/s, 480 Mb/s) and power consumption does RB support?

Thank you and kind regards,
Vladimir
