Just wondering
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:41:36 AM »
Here I go again with my NOOB questions.

I was just wondering if there is such a thing as:
A "wirless kit" 1090 antenna which can transmit signals from the antenna to the RB which would have a reciver plugged in.
I have a 15 mt (45ft) aluminium flagploe in my front garden and would dearly like to
get an antenna on the top of it but the price of cable for that project would be enormous as the pole is 50 meters from the house and I dont want it going from the top of the pole directly to the house, you could imagine how many birds would have fun on that, not to mention a neat long line of bird dung on the grass. so it would have to be buried.

Well I hope that the question can be answered...
BTW. Does aluminium have any effect on the signal ?

Cheers .. Hamish

Nope.  It's a very high bandwidth signal for even the video.

If enough people ask, maybe they will produce a base station model.  The base station model would be a remote receiver with power over the cable, so you could use cheap video cable.  The antenna and receiver could then be mounted high, and the digital decoder inside the home. They could save money by having a transponder antenna built-in, and put it all in a PVC pipe or plastic case for mounting and grounding to the tower.

The current design is made to be portable (and cheaper to build).
