Connecting the Co-ax cable to the Radar-Box

Hi there
Someone had told me that I need to have a 'patch-lead' for one thing or another to reduce the strain or something? anyone shed some light on what this means please?.

I was planning on having a 15ft pole with the cable going from the antenna to the RB.

Hi John, rather than having a stiff, heavy co-ax lead connected to the RB, it is preferable to use a lightweight (eg RG-174) short (I like 18"/450mm) "patch" lead with an SMA plug to connect to the RB, and my choice is N-type in-line connectors to connect antenna downlead to the RG-174 one.

My patch lead came with the external aerial and W103 cable from AirBand-Online here: http://www.airbandonline.co.uk/kapl_sbs1_aerial.htm

Note that the RadarBox version costs an extra £5.00, which is presumably the cost of the patch lead.

It's all still going strong after 2 years :-))
