What I did:
I have an other computer on which Airnav ran previously.
I connected the box, but the USB device was nog recognized.
I ran the complete upgrade procedure agian, as if I completely started from new.
This time the Firmware Upgrader said:
Version: 0.91.0
Update Version: 1.01.2
After a while (anyone? how long do I wait) I started AirNav.
Same result.
My idea is that the firmware (0.9x to 1.01.2) upgrade in the previous installation was unsuccessfull.

Hmmmm.......!

DaveG,

You did brouse to the new inf file in the Drivers directory rather than letting windows install the RB drivers automatically?

When I go to the Device Manager. I see:

Universal Serial Bus Controllers
AirNav RadarBox

and the Properties of the AirNav RadarBox driver are:

Driver: Primtec

Driver Date: 27/06/2007

Driver Version: 2.2.4.0

I installed the new driver with the RB "box" plugged in but without RB running.

When I ran RB, it didn't find the box - Loads of Network Flights, but no Hardware Flights.  I unplugged the box and plugged it in again, I didn't get the "found new hardware message", but when I ran RB again, all was well.

I know that this doesn't really help you, but I'm down to guessing now ........

Hi DaveG,

did you uninstall the drivers (while the box is connected) from the software deinstallation routine or from the device manager? I would recommend the latter. Then unplug, restart, plug in again and try to install the drivers.

As you mentioned there is some data left over in the registry, even after uninstalling software and drivers -  i.e. username & password, refresh time and some others I think.

Good Luck,

Markus

The first times yes, until I uninstalled everything RB & Drivers from Add/Remove programmes.

After that I tried CD reinstall and update of drivers, but nothing is displaying in Device Manager named AirNav RadarBox.  There is one called "USB Serial Converter" with Manufactor FDTI but that does not allow you to update as it says its not for your hardware.

HH
From Device Manager then uninstall file.

Think I'll just redo windows so I can get back to start :(

DaveG,

You said - After that I tried CD reinstall and update of drivers, but nothing is displaying in Device Manager named AirNav RadarBox.

How did you update the drivers - automatic or "have disk"?

When you go to the Device Manager window and expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, do you see:

Universal Serial Bus Controllers
AirNav RadarBox

If so, what do you see if you right click on the AirNav RadarBox entry and select Properties?

DaveG,

If you have unistalled the drivers for RadarBox. Restart the pc and then connect RadarBox.

Does Windows find some hardware connected?
What do the lights on the RadarBox do?

Have done that many times.  Only finds new hardware after I clearout the previous try's files and drivers then after restart and usb plugin it finds them.  But they do not install correct as I'm then back in a loop (see below)

BTW - When pluggin in USN cable I get green light and one flash of blue light thats it.

Allocator
Nope its not there, when plugging in USB cable (after cleaning out drivers and files and installing again) it asks for the drivers and installs, but they do not display then in Device Manager and there is no connection to the RB Box.

Never mind, I'm going to clear out that PC now and do a Windows Reinstall, it could do with it...  So will report back in a few hour on progress from CD to Update !

DaveG,

It does look like you are not actually installing the drivers at all.  You say that it asks for the drivers and installs, but where is it installing from I wonder?

Sorry if I'm asking the same question over and again, but I'd rather boil my head than do a Windows re-install :-)

Got to go for tea now - see you all in a bit.

Support, my assumption is that we both experience firmware problems.

Can you verify if the Hardware Updater supports an update from
Version: 0.91.0 to Version: 1.01.2 without the intermediate update that came with 1.1?

How long to wait before the hardware upgrade is completed.
How to verify if the hardware upgrade was succesfull.

Is anyone succesfull in going from the CD-ROM version directly to Beta 1.2 without 1.1 as intermediate step?

Yep no keen on reinstalling windows, but its the only option I can see at this time.

Just tried once more...

Uninstalled everything, closed down restarted (RB unplugged at this time)

Installed from CD.
Copied New drivers into the RB directory, confirmed correct location.
Plugged in RB USB, asked for drivers.
Checked Device Manager (before installing drivers)
Its found "USB<-> Serial"
Directed it to the new drivers.  (ftdibus.inf)
Answer was:  "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware"  Cant go any further!!! with new drivers then.

Browsed to CD Drivers Directory (just to try)
pointed it to FTDIBUS.INF
it installed these okay!!!!!

Device manager now has "USB Serial Converter"

Runs RB

No Hardware Connection, which maybe no surprise since the drivers if correct are for the original version and not 1.2

Where is the Beer!!!!!

Hi Ronald,

in my case it didn't work with the first beta patch installed - I had to reinstall the software from CD, removed the drivers an then upgraded firmware & drivers.

DaveG:

Ok, so its found using the orginal drivers. Then what happens when you do the following:

To update them:
 - Go to "Windows Control Panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device Manager";
 - Browse "Universal Serial Bus Controllers";
 - Double Click over "AirNav RadarBox";
 - Go to the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver";
 - Answer "No, not this time";
 - Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
 - Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install";
 - Click "Have Disk";
 - Select the "C:\Program Files\AirNav Systems\AirNav RadarBox 2007\Drivers" folder;
 - Click Next and follow the specified instructions.

Make sure it points to the new drivers and click on whatever it think RadarBox is now called.

Dave,

I had a similar problem. I completely uninstalled everything and with RB still attached to USB went to the drivers directory and deleted the driver from there. I also did a clean upo of the files not taken out by the uninstall programme. Loaded the original disc but did not connect RB. Copied the newt files into AirNav 2007, including the drivers. I checked that everything was there and noticed that in the drivers directory there is a sub directory of "out" in that were older copies of the driver and a few of the driver related files. I took a chance and deleted the .sys driver file from their as it was the old one. I then connected the RB to the USB port and went via the Control Panel to the Hardware/device manager etc and did what it said on the original B2 installation instructions. It could not find the driver .SYS file where it said it should be but I somehow, when I exited that program and rebooted had a connection to the system, traffic and all and can confirm both the new version and drivers are installed. The PC has now been running since approx 14:30 and no glitches so far - he says with fingers and legs crossed.
It seems rather ironic to me that a system that is so easy to set up and use initially can be so difficult to update using Airnavs instructions - and I don't believe they can use the Beta version case as an excuse. Need to try harder.

If you read above it does not install anything called Airnav Radarbox, it installs USB Serial Converter.  And trying as you say using that does not work.
