Request of info from a new member...
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:52:46 PM »
Hello everybody! I've just signed in this forum, and I'm looking forward to order RadarBox. I have only one doubt and maybe somebody could help me. As far as I know, ADS-B is not mandatory at the moment in all countries, so if an aircraft doesn't activate it, no position information will be sent, nor will be possible to plot its position. In my case I live in Italy, so does anybody know if actually in this country a good "coverage" of flying aircrafts is possible? I'm very attracted by RadarBox, I'm only afraid to be disappointed if I realize that only few aircrafts are shown in the map...
Thanks for your help!

Most of the major European airlines will have almost all there fleet using ADS-B.
Alitalia as well does have ADS-B in most of its fleet.

You won't see much general aviation with ASD-B however. We do have few customers in Italy who may be able to give you better detail.

There are loads of European airlines using ads-b, the newer Airbus and Boeing aircraft do use this sytem.

This past week i have received 2 Cessna light a/c transmitting ADS-B so it looks as though small a/c are starting to use it,maybe other users can confirm this. These were over the U.K.

That was a screenshot of the network, it all depends on who is sharing theie data at that time so not sure what was active at the time but you should get some nice activity. What is your local airport?

I see flights on my system going to Rome Fiumicino. on my database I've just looked and found 616 flights going into LIRF and 604 flights coming out. but not sure if all would show positional data.

I live in North East England but I get lots of European aircraft heading for the transatlantic routes, I've just fournd this one for you to look at. It has left LIRF heading to JFK the reason it isn't shoiwing full aircraft details is because of a temporary server problem.

Thanks Besty8 for the screenshot. Actually I know this flight number, is Rome-New York. I see on your screenshot that also detailed runways are shown. Very interesting...can you pick aircrafts also at ground level, or low level?

If you live close enough to the airports you can see the aircraft on the ground and going round the taxiways.
