HI

Can anyone advise me if there is anything you can download or buy, that enables you to listen to converstons by the captain etc, and air traffic control. I see there is one you can read, but would like one you can listen to over the internet.
I have a radio, for when we are at airports, but not at home on the internet.

Many Thanks

Bill

I am afraid this is not possible in the U.K (I assume you are in the U.K)> It's against the law, hence why it's not available on the internet.

www.liveatc.net will give you coverage in Europe, Ireland, Rest of the world - it' a great website - but no U.K coverage.

Your hobby will get expensive! You have been warned!! Buy yourself a scanner and good aerial. I did this in 2008 and it's fantastic. I have an AOR8600 MKII with a Diamond D777 aerial.

You could use ACARS.

This is principally used for communication between aircraft and their ground operations teams. Most of the data passed is of a technical nature, but very often there are some interesting snippets.

AirNav offer some software for decoding ACARS but also if you search the internet there are some lower cost alternatives.
