Round sign instead of aircraft sign

Hi

I do know this has been asked before, but cannot find it - what does it mean when on the screen there is a round circle with a cross in it, instead of the normal aircraft sign.

This means that the aircraft isn't transmitting heading information - therefore it's not possible to show the aircraft symbol going the the right direction.
