A Fresh Start
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:59:20 PM »
Well, my old desktop 'puter is finally on it's last legs, .... it's running slower than an old b****r like me can, so .....I've invested in a new one, (that hurt), coming this weekend.
I'm currently running XP and as the new one will have Vista installed, I would appreciate any advice on possible snags I may encounter, as over the nine months I have had my RadarBox, there has been considerable discussion in the forum re Vista and although I've ploughed through quite a lot of it, I'm not sure if just a re-install of 2009 is all that is needed or whether different drivers etc will need to be downloaded separately.

Is it possible to copy the whole 2009 programme from my machine and install it in the new one rather than just the .db data files, new maps, photos etc?

Regards

Syd

Hi Syd

I'm sure it will be best to do a fresh install - most programs beaver around in the Registry and do other internal things that you most certainly won't want to muck about with.

As to Vista - there's plenty of stuff in the forum, and in this FAQ: http://www.airnavsystems.com/forum/index.php?topic=1570.0.

Good luck!

The only problems I have encountered with Vista are using AVG which is now sorted and occaisional hang ups on the drop down menus.

Thanks guys,

Fresh install went fine. Busy re-installing other progs from old machine so not yet had a lengthy RB session.  Not experienced any initial problems so fingers crossed all ok.

Cheers

It's just that Hawkeye used to be the main AAC callsign in battle. These days it's all US style Cobra, Panther etc.
