Sharing of Data in AirNav RadarBox
« on: June 18, 2007, 07:33:37 PM »
Hi All

Regarding some discussion on other internet forums we clarify that you may receive 5 minute delayed data using AirNav RadarBox. Data is shared on port 7879 (just connect to this port and you will have data being sent to your software).

Tks

Does this mean that all data (also from others sharing data) will come in via port 7879 and can be captured by other software?

only the data that you get from your antenna is on port 7879.

So if I am understanding all of this correctly, the data you receive via your personal antenna tracks everything live, and data the we receive via the network from other users, there is a five minute delay, is that correct?

Confirming this works all over the world, as long a you have an internet connection, computer, the decoder, and antenna?

Thanks

Brian S.

We confirm all that. You just need the internet connection for the network feature. Without internet it will work without any problem but you will only see flights received by your hardware.

Hello all,

imagine I live in a "hole", where I can't get any ADS-B reports from aircraft directly. Is there the possibility to purchase only the software, subscribe the Airnav network and view the traffic without the need of the box itself?

Best regards to all,
LOMBA, Emmanuel.

Unfortunately not. The software will only work if the hardware is connected to it. In that case (with the hardware connected but with not reception conditions) you can always see network flights and if there is a user closed to you with a good reception you can see what he sees.

Example: imagine you live closed to London Heathrow and you don't have access to a window. You can start the software and have the hardware connected to it and see all flights with the network feature. The only disadvantage is that network flights have an artificial delay of 5 minutes (due to security reasons) while flights coming from your hardware are real-time.

Hope this helps.
