Network Flight Data & sharing of data
« on: October 13, 2008, 07:41:05 PM »
Airnav,

I have recently lost my network as my initial 12 month subscribtion has ended, that came with the box.

As I recall, if we share flight data we receive free network download usage, on a 1 hour given 30 mins given back basis. ( as per screenshot) I have been sharing data for 12 months where possible on a more often than not 24/7 basis.

So where are the minutes I have already put in and banked?

Hi Cam,

Sorry to break the news to you but that was never done. We made it clear from the start the subscription after the 1st year would cost.

Unfortunately due to the fact we heavily cut the price of the network there is no free network via sharing.

We will change that information, which has been left behind incorrectly.

So retrospetively you are changing what has been stated all along in the software?

How did you make it clear networking would cost?

You rely on users to feed the network with data, what if they decide to stop sharing data?

What was the network price cut? I am not aware of this or the original cost.

I understand networking costs money, but what about those of us that paid the full price for the hardware and software? and not the new reduced price?

Hi CAM,

Let me just make clear from the start of this that we will NOT reverse our decision and give you access for sharing.

From the start all the sales material stated that you got 1 year free subscription, there was no mention of sharing and getting network access because of it. There were remains of share system in the software as it was an idea we thought about but never pushed forward.

If you notice even back last year during everyone free period sharing data had little or no affect of allowing you access to the data. Nowhere on our site or any marketing material was that written regarding sharing.

Regarding customers sharing, we have found that actually 70%+ customers are purchasing the network subscription as they realise how its such as great network for such a small price which cannot be matched.

The original cost was $240 (£120) for the network. Sorry but prices change for products, a lot of the customers who bought early actually got a few months of the network extra due to initial issues.

I understand what you are saying but the quote in the software is misleading and I am NOT asking you to reverse your decision.

I am only seeking clarification on the quote that is written into the software. If it is wrong it needs to be removed and should have been during the revisions.

I dont think the questions raised are unjustified.

Yes you are totally right. They only come up if you don't share data and you can see from that how many people actually don't, about 2-3 people maybe.

Otherwise it would have come to our attention much sooner.
