Now there's a question - is it just an urban myth that there is still a TSR-2 in existence - mothballed at Boscombe Down...........?
I've seen both aircraft in the last 6 months. I think that these are the only 2 in existence, but I'm sure somebody will put me right if I'm mistaken :-)
There are only two left in existance. The Jigs were almost certainly ordered to be destroyed by Dennis Healy, a decision that was to cost this country an awful lot of money. Not to mention the loss of one of the most technologically advanced aircraft in the world.
The Recent Information section tells the real story of why it was cancelled. But not why the jigs were destroyed.
Destroying the jigs would make it that much more difficult for a subsequent administration to resurrect the project.
