We have come across our first problem. Looks like something really stupid.
We need to put some up pressure on the antenna cable going to the box so there is signal!! Has anyone come across this problem? Looks easy to fix but will we be covered by guaranty if we access the interior?

We have a 130NM range on the standard antenna with no AMP.
We will not be testing the external antenna and amps until tomorrow, sorry!!

hi pepito,
You say you have to put up pressure on the cable,or the SMA connector at the back of the box,if its the cable, then there is a break in it or its not been connected to the SMA male properly,if its the SMA female out of the back of the RB don`t open it up,you will void the guarrantee,Get in touch with AirNav by E-Mail,

Pepito,

Check to make sure that the centre "pin" in the antenna lead is sticking out far enough to go into the socket on the Hardware receiver.  If you still have the problem, don't open the box otherwise this will invalidate your guarantee.

Maybe when you test with the external antenna, you will not have the problem.

If you do have problems, then you need to contact Support direct at:

Ok,

yes, its the connector but by hanging the box of the antenna cable it works. Not very elegant but practical. I have seen in youtube a video where someone shows this same problem!! I´m sure its just minor surgery to be made.

Good luck with the tests Pepito,
Maybe you know that when you put up the pre-amp,make sure its as high as the antenna,i.e same height as the groung planes on the antenna, but around the other side of the pole,i made this mistake, and put the amp 12 inches below it,for some reason being below the antenna the 12v dc will not deliver full power, strange?.

You're coming through OK, Pipito.

Could you just point your antenna a bit more towards Africa, please ;-)

Hi,

just got the standard antenna out of the window. We are just getting the grips with the software. Tomorrow we will try the external antenna with the amp.
This will be placed on our first test site but should give some good covarage. So we hope.

We can not see the general aviation traffic for some reason. We have the option selected to show all traffic but we can only see the GA aircraft on the "My Flights" list. We try to select the flight but we can´t see them on the map. ¿?

See what happens tomorrow.

Hi Peptito

Remember that most GA aircraft don't broadcast ADS-B, and so won't appear on the map as RB doesn't know their position. The Globe symbol in MyFlights shows whether the aircraft is transmitting ADS-B.

Good luck with the antenna!

Hi again,

here we are back with the external antenna. There is a considerable improvment as we could expect. The connector problem seams to have disapeared so we could say it was the standard antenna´s conector. We have the polar graph of the standard antena and we will be posting both to compare.
Hope you guys enjoy seing your mates going on holiday to Majorca!!!

This is our first site best for confort, our main office building next to the airport but we will probably place the antenna in a better site that will give us that extra miles over the mountains over the noth of Majorca.

Is it very importnant to keep the antenna completley vertical? Just to see if to fix the provisional instalation or not.

I will keep you adviced of the develpoments.

That's excellent coverage of the airport itself, too.

The best we've had of any busy airport (along with Vienna).

EDIT - sorry Athens - you're pretty good at the moment, too!

Great stuff, Pepito!

Hi,

yes we want to keep the airport covarage down to the floor and probably in the next location we will also have menorca a little better and Ibiza almost to the ground. We hope anyway.

here are the polar graphs. first with standard antenna and the second is the external antenna and AMP.
