It will work in Australia and it will give you worldwide coverage, however, the amount of data being fed from Australia is not great.  You would be better with a RadarBox and then you could pick up aircraft close to you with your antenna - and share that data with all of us!

You will get worldwide aircraft data via the radarBox Network :-)

I've just set my RadarBox FTP page to Australia - give it 5 minutes up upload and then you can watch the RadarBox Network traffic :-)

wow thanks for that, however when i see your display there is no trails as such from the ac is this possible in Radarbox? the "other" one has trails which show you where the plane flew 5 mins ago, great to see those holds.

Clayton,

Back from town, didn't spend too much money :-)

Yes RadarBox does show trails and this shows up best with "live" data.  I've put my FTP upload centred over my home now so you can see the effect (give it 5 minutes to catch up).

You will see solid trails from my live traffic and dot trails from the Network traffic.  I've set my live traffic to update about every 4 seconds, but the Network traffic with "*" after the callsign, only updates every 60 seconds - hence "solid" trails for live and "dot" trails for Network traffic. (Look down to the SE around London to see loads of Network traffiv.)

You can also have "leader lines" to show where the aircraft will be in 5 minutes, but I think that these just clutter the picture - it depends how busy the airspace is.

Don't worry, you are allowed to mention the SBS-1 here, you won't get moderated.  I've got both boxes, but I rarely use the SBS-1 now as there are so many more built-in functions wirg RadarBox.

Almost as provocative as the same post on the SBS-1 forum - which also had no explanation.  However, here is the post from ML&S.  Guess they are trying to play catch-up. Doesn't mention anything about new software or network data.  There is nothing here of interest other that the "3db increase in sensitivity".

--------------------------

Due to the fact Airliner World is out 4 days early some of you will notice yes there is a new version.

From the Advert

Small Form Factor 130mmx95mmx25mm
Lightest RTVR available today 175g
Better than 3db increase in Sensitivity than the original SBS-1
Ethernet built in as standard
RS-232 Interface built in for external receiver control
Seperate on/off switches for Ethernet and Power
Ultra Low Current Consumption less than 100ma via USB ,200ma with Ethernet enabled.

Official launch date is 10/09/08 so watch this space and all will be revealed.

I can tell you no more until we have emailed and written to all our dealers.

Have a good weekend

Regards

Surely not - just passing it on, official release date 10/09/08.
Not that it will influence me - money's already spent on RB, so I'll persevere and eventually it'll get sorted, no doubt. (Noticed your quick edit, Allocator ;-))

Yes DC - never doubted you for a moment :-)

Popped across to the "far side" and saw the post.

I wonder if it will have the same 'toytown' software interface and depend upon 3rd party 'bolt-ons'?

Do they still make mention of network data?

Talking of provocative did you see the wording in the ML&S advert for the SBS-1 in the latest issue of Radio User?

Mr Moderator Sir!

Can you please move the OT posts about the 'new' SBS-1 into a thread of its own?

No offence meant to anyone, but that subject is worthy of its own thread, it is going to get very interesting! (as seen by some of the posts on this already ;)
Best wishes
Mark

Clayton4115,

They are being sold in Australia, check our dealers page.

rocket,

No, we will not start a new thread. It does not have revelance to RB as such as there is too much rumours and questions which deserve to be on there forum and not asked here. We won't market there product for them here like that but have no problem of being mentioned in relevance to RB.
