can anybody shed any light on this screenshot and does anybody have the same problem

nope never seem anything like that.  Have had a few purple lines running over the map, but changing map solved this each time.

What happens if you shut the map down - right click, close map.  Then reopen the map again, does the new map open OK?

its got worse now an i cannot read the screen.
i have reinstalled software and hardware still no change
hold on yes i close the map down and restart with the london map all is well Phew!!!!

This is not a bug. In the map settings you can turn on the day/night shadow.

Its in Maps-> General Signs -> Day/Night Shadow.

Hope that make sense.

Thanks for that yes i see what you mean i have tried switched on and off and i see the difference cannot see why you would want it on though you cannot see anything!!
