Cost of Airborne ADS-B equipment

A question to our users: does anyone know the price of an ADS-B equipment to be installed on a general aviation aircraft like a Cessna 172? What models are available?

Any help appreciated.

Ive often wondered that! Im gona fit one to my car if its affordable haha! So I know where the Missus is!

Do they not all support ADS-B and only require the addition of a GPS input.

PTT31 Installation Manual

The GPS position input is required to support ADS-B functionality. The GPS position input is an RS232 input to the transponder and is on the 12 way secondary connector. The ADS-B features are optional – no GPS is required for normal Mode S Elementary Surveillance.
The TT31 GPS input can recognise either the industry standard “Aviation” format or the NMEA 0183 format; the interface speed can be selected between 4800, 9600 and 19200 bps.
There is also an RS232 output on the 12 way connector for future expansion. This pin is unused and should be left unconnected.

I'm not sure about the "most". 

If that's true then I'm surprised at - out of all the light aircraft that now have a Mode S transponder - how few have seem to have their GPS hooked up to it ...

I still only need one hand to count the ADS-B-equipped spamcans I've picked up  :-)
