Amazing V1.6 Screen Shot - NASA Satellite Views
« on: August 05, 2008, 04:13:01 AM »
That's it. Our team has finished the development of the new amazing Satellite View for v1.6.
Too much work but we did it and we are happy with the results. :-)

From now on you will be able to download a satellite picture (from NASA) and see flights being tracked over the ground/on taxiways/parked. The same technology will be applied to ShipTrax where you will be able to see ships moored at the proper locations.

Have a look at the Screen Shot of London Heathrow in the morning (BAW12, a Boeing 747-400 arriving from Singapore). Hope you enjoy it. As usually suggestions welcome and we will be happy to implement them.

Looks very nice, but a trifle small to view any detail.  I can see, however, that it's still "Centered at England", so I assume that this change request won't be implemented in this version.  Also, you asked for Beta testers for v 1.6, do you not need them now if it's finished, or did you get them and not tell us?

It hasn't been sent out to beta users yet. Nobody other than the AirNav team has been sent out a version since we last posted asking for the beta testers so relax :)

But I can't, I'm just so excited! :-)

Is there a projected timeline for release? I assume it needs to go to beta testers, possible minor rework, user acceptance testing etc?

Correct, it should be out to the beta testers soon. Once they are happy as well as us we will release it.

Thanks for the reply. Part of my job is signing off software upgrades, so if you need another tester I'd be more than happy to get involved :-)

Looks excellent.  Will be even more useful in Shiptrax, it's the type of view I use in ShipPlotter a lot of the time:

It does look excellent - two questions, AirNav;

- will it cover the whole world
- can I stop doing outlines now?

Airnav it looks really good!! Looking forward to the beta testing and final release!

I think it will cover the whole world similar to the "google earth" program.

Hello Airnav Looks amasing:-):-)

will you be able to turn on and off this feature e.g. put it to the normal radar view and then put it to the satelite view then change it back?
Also will their be a night view satalite pic so you can see the lights from the runways?(probebly wont be able to see anything:-)
Thanks
