Micro RadarBox dongle/antenna question
« on: September 21, 2023, 03:17:04 PM »
Hi,  long time since I've posted but been using RB constantly without issue.

I've got a Micro Radarbox dongle and antenna in my possession still in its packaging, but before I plug it in can those with more knowledge and tech savvy confirm is it simply a case of plugging in the dongle, attaching the antenna and bingo,it works off the bat straightaway with the main RB software running or will i have to download any extra software to get it to work?

Many thanks,
Paul

You will need to download and install the driver package for the stick from here
https://www.airnavsystems.com/Download/ANRB/Drivers/microRadarbox-Drivers-20150411.exe

Hi Alan,

Many thanks for the reply, I assume the drivers will locate to the correct folders automatically?

Cheers,

Hi Alan, hope you can help with getting the micro RB up and running.

1. I plugged in the dongle
2. Downloaded drivers as per your link
3. Filled in my details reqd by AirNav site and went to download but next thing it said it was complete despite no obvious wizard installation button to click.
4. I'm not seeing any desktop icons or radar.
5. I'm bemused by it all.

What should I be doing?  I'm assuming the plug in dongle would feed by already installed Radarbox system or should I be seeing a stand alone micro radarbox installation with its own icons on the desktop?

As stated i didnt get an obvious wizard button to download it just went straight to complete.

I've not done a restart.

Any thoughts please?

I have no idea what that is you are trying to install butI assume that you already have the V6 software on your computer that you used with an original radarbox, am I correct in that assumption.

If that is correct you dont need to do anything else other than install the drivers for the stick and using the V6 software you log in just as you always did using the same log in details as you always did

Ah, that might be the issue, the RB version I have is V5. Can I simply upgrade from V5 to V6 without any problem with my current setup then I’ll try and install the micro RB?

How can I refresh my AirNav version? I assume the drivers would remain the same as V5?

Appreciate your help and advice Alan,

Many thanks

Paul

I suggest that you delete V5 from the computer.  Once the automcatic deletion is done go into your computer and manually delete all Airnav folders after saving on folders like MyLog/logos etc  for copying back when you have installed V6

Download and install V6 from  http://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRB60002Setup.exe  Install to c:\Airnav not to the program files location probably suggested by the installer.

Install the drivers from https://www.airnavsystems.com/Download/ANRB/Drivers/microRadarbox-Drivers-20150411.exe or Zadig and you should be good to go using the log in details you used with V5

Hi Alan,

Many thanks, I’ll have a go at uninstalling V5 and copying those files before installing V6, my only fear is losing a working V5 and being left in limbo with nothing if with my limited IT ability I cannot get V6 to install and run!

I’ll let you know how I get on…

Thanks again,

That being the case Paul, leave V5 and install V6 and see how it goes

Hi Alan,  I downloaded and installed V6 over the already installed V5 without issue followed by the drivers required for the MicroRB and it’s working perfectly!

Great system so far.  I only have one question, the antenna and stick combo is obviously a dedicated setup with its plug in connector - is there any other compatible antenna which may give even better results or range that is available?

Very pleased with this AirNav product!

Paul

The Airnav Flightstick has the same antenna connection of the original radarbox.

Also I believe you will be able to find on google a connector which would enable you to connect the micro RB to your existing antenna you used with V5

Hi Alan, my original RB has a SMA screw connector to the aerial whereas my Flightstick has a very different plug in connector but I don’t know what this type of connector is called?

I’d be interested in such a connector from the flightstick to allow a SMA connector aerial but I’m not sure what name connector I’d need- “?? to SMA”

Thanks for your help and support,
