Flightstick software
« on: September 02, 2022, 10:29:58 AM »
New to the forum.

Have been using a Kinetic SBS-1 for years until now, looks like it's dead.

Looking at the flight stick as a possible replacement.

However, I would like to know if this software will work with it.
https://www.radarbox.com/legacy-software

I want to be able to generate a daily log of aircraft. Looks like it will be a lot easier to do it with the radarbox than it was with the Kinetic software.

Yes it works with that software.  I would however use the previous version of the software as the one on the website has been altered to work with the xrange receivers and introduced a few more bugs https://www.airnavsystems.com/download/ANRB/ANRB60002Setup.exe

Install to C:\Radarbox dont use the default program files location

Getting a daily/weekly/monthly etc log of what you pick up is very easy

You will also need the drivers from the web page or you can use the Zadig drivers as well

Any queries just ask

Got the software installed and the driver for the FlightStick installed, but in the lower left corner it says hardware not connected. What am I doing wrong?.

I assume that you have the stick inserted into your computer

Go to Control Panel/Devices and Printers and you should see your stick under Unspecified where it will show as RTL2832U what does it say in its properties, does it have an issue or is it showing as working properly

If the drivers are showing as causing an issue try the Zadig drivers from https://zadig.akeo.ie/  Download the software and once launched click on Options/List all devices.  Go to the dropdown box with edit to its right and you should see RTL2832U, click on it to have it showing on the box then click on Install Driver.

Once the driver is installed unplug the stick then plug it back in and start the V6 software and you should be good to go

Now the next problem I'm having is I want to be able to send the log via email automatically.

I have ticked the send report at 00:00 UTC which is 9:30 AM here in Adelaide SA.

I have tried my yahoo email settings and our ISP mail settings with no luck.

Are you able to send manually

Only send to one email address

Check that your anti-virus or firewall are set to allow through

I see 2 Airnav logs each day sent automatically to the mode-s forum so I know they are working ok

I think I've cracked it.

Firstly I went into the router and opened the ports for SMTP, 25, 465, 587 and 2525. I don't know exactly which port is being used.
Then I changed from my email settings to the airnav systems server and it works when I click send now in reporter, but the real test will be 00:00 UTC (9:30 AM here in Adelaide).

Now just have to tidy up the formatting of the email. Saving as a file, everything is formatted nicely, but the email version is messy.
