Newbie questions.. sorry.
« on: January 26, 2021, 12:48:14 PM »
Last week I got a micro radar box which I am running on a Win 10 pc, and I have a number of questions.
First, when an aircraft is picked up by the box it does not to show me as being one of the stations receiving it. The share box is ticked and the software shows hardware connected.
How do you activate MLAT?
How do I get my station number?
I have tried looking through previous posts but don't seem to be able to find what I need.
Thanks in advance.

Are you queries about the V6 software, Radarbox24 or as I suspect both

Have you added in your exact location in decimal.  Where are you located John and I will see if I can find you.

I stated using the box last week, Thursday or Friday. It is live just now but I have no aircraft close enough to be picked up at the moment.

Once we get an aircraft picked up I should hopefully be able to find your receivers sharer ID,  Once we have that you will require to contact support and advise them of the email used for your RB account, the receivers sharer ID and ask them to link the receiver to your account and you should then be able to see MyStation on RB

What range are you getting.  There is a German Air Force A359 just apast Mallaig heading south east, hopefully you will pick it up

Bit of a quiet day for aircraft but there is an airbus (gaf955) which may show in the next few minutes, failing that it might be a long wait.

Yep nothing else even close to me now
Normally I am on line between 0830(ish) and 2100.
I missed a question from you earlier about range. I am getting about 15nm North, slightly less to East and S East and about 15nm south. Westwards is a bit sketchy.
this short range is due to me using an internal aerial and also that my home is in a narrow dip giving me a very limited horizon.

Ok so basically will need something right over the top, in or out of Inverness would do

The only station I can see that could be you will be this one https://www.radarbox.com/stations/EXTSHA195491  It is showing the default location at this time due to it not being linked

Sorry, was helping with the grand children  You were getting thr mode-c signal not the full mode-s so it wont show on the map, probably at extreme of your range

It should be as it is ADSB eqipped, let me know if it shows on the V6 Map

Try and get the antenna to a west facing window as it looks like it will go west of you
