Mode S generator - pattern
« on: March 18, 2008, 02:28:58 PM »
hi there guys, I was wondering:

The mode S code of each aircraft is unique to each aircraft, in South Africa where I a located, I have noticed the folowwing:

ZS-AAA  ---- 008000 ?
ZS-ZZZ  ---- ???????

so the rest of the registrations should be between 008000 and ?????
ZS-ABG 008031(the closest to AAA that I have logged)
ZS-ZXX 00C482 (the closest to ZZZ that I have logged)

ZS-SLA 00B0B7
ZS-SLB 00B0B8
ZS-SLC 00B0B9
ZS-SLD 00B0BA
ZS-SLE 00B0BB
ZS-SLF 00B0BC

there is a pattern

ZS-SJR 00B094
ZS-SJS 00B095
ZS-SJT 00B096
ZS-SJU 00B097
ZS-SJV 00B098

could some maby generate all the registrations with their Mode S? and then I can have a look at the one's thats not updated by the Auto-Populate feature and add them in myself?

will this work?

This SQL will give you the list of 80,000+ aircraft, listing their ModeS hexcode and registration:

SELECT DISTINCT
  aircraft.MS,
  aircraft.AR
FROM
 aircraft
ORDER BY
  aircraft.MS

Although I suspect there'll be many exceptions

Nice idea, but it's not quite that simple!

Mode S allocations to registrations are often quite random, even though certain code blocks are allocated to particular countries or operators.

Thanks tarbat

I was trying to use '=' and not 'like' to sort data

Cheers
