Suddenly lost aircraft logging ? Thunder storm ?
« on: May 01, 2011, 02:01:11 PM »
Hi Guy's,

My Airnav has been working fine sand has been happily logging around 1200 aircraft a day.

Today we had a clap of thunder over the Channel and after checking my setup, noticed that the ANRB wasn't connected to the box.

I connected it but only had one aircraft on screen, then two.

I restarted the programe changed the aeriel to the one that came with the ANRB and only have one aircraft 'captured'.

Does this mean the box may need to be sent in for a 'repair' ?

Any assistance greatfully appreciated,

Cheers Dave.
Best regards Dave.

It does sound like that. We advise you to disconnect during a storm.

If you have the network on, check whether its displaying flights much closer to your location which would indicate your box has been damaged. If thats the case email us or use the ticket system and we will give you details on how to return.

We can't advise us enough to disconnect during the storm, we did have a box sent back to us last year which took a direct hit (as well as other antennas the customer had in a close a setup)

Hi Airnav Support,

Really appreciate your reply on a weekend too. :)

Yes, you're right, the weather was pretty good here today and the thunder was out to sea towards the Channel Isles. As you quite righly say, I should have switched the set off though and was actually saying that to my daughter when the thunder appeared - only sounded once too.

I seem to be picking aircraft up around the 15 mile radius at present and only have a Ryanair 737 as I type. Now have 2 but that's it.

I've sent an email to your Support system.

Oh well I'll certainly miss the box for a while -

Best regards guys,

Dave.
