Network Flights Slowing Down Application Response Time

Help Please

Just subscribed to Network Flight data and have tried on 2 laptops (XP & Vista) but the load from the network flights slows the ANRB application to a virtual standstill on both.  Is this normal?  Any ideas how to speed up
 
If this is as good as it gets I will have to cancel the subscription as its unusable?

It shouldn't make it unusable.

How fast is your net connection? Sounds like it cannot cope with the download and hence the software is always downloading and then gets into a continuous cycle.

Viewing the RB network data doesn't affect the speed of the RB software unless you have a poor or intermittent Internet connection.

Why would you have to cancel the Network subscription.  It is free for the first 12 months and if you are having problems with it, you just switch it off - at no cost :-)

Have had box nearly 2 years - just decided to re-subscribe now that South of Spain is covered.

Just run test on broadband speed - is this too low?

So the RB Network was Ok for the first 12 months that you were using it?

If it was, then there must be something else affecting your speed.

My current connection speed is:

1.9 Mb/s down
0.36 Mb/s up

But I've run the RB Network at dial-up speeds and not had any problem.  When I did have a problem, it wasn't because the speed was slow, it was because it was inconsistent - fast one minute then slowing down to almost nothing the next.

What version of RB software are you using?

I have a 2nd broadband connection which is :-

Date Today 21:16 
Download Speed 4528 kbps (566kB/s)
Upload Speed  370 kbps (46.3kB/s)
   
Just swapped to this (will be calling BT about the other) and no change. Application still does not respond for long periods and hans up.  Using 2009 first full release doftware.

Further to the last post - the network update counter keeps freezing instead of simply counting down 29-0 and then refreshing.

it freezes usually at 23 secs

is it a straight upgrade from 2009?

All noted Mark, the Netwok has been good with all my PC's since I got RB almost 2 years ago.  The time I had trouble was using a 3G USB mobile Internet connection from Orange, laughingly called Internet Everywhere.   It should be called Internet Here and There - even in London the connection is very unreliable.  It's fine for email, but for browsing or uploading, it's pretty poor.

Shame I'm only 12 months into an 18 month contract!

Thanks folks - have upgraded to the beta software and it definitely seems to have improved - i will keep watch and come back if it reverts to previous performance.

I hope that it works OK for you.  The V3.0 is beta software, so there might be the odd glitch, but let us all know how you get on :-)
